Boy George Guilty Of Imprisoning Escort - Skrufff.com
Reported by Tristan Ingram on December 10, 2008
A London jury found Boy George guilty of handcuffing Norwegian male
escort Audun Carlsen to a wall and beating him, this week, prompting
Judge David Radford to warn the Culture Club star that he faces jail
when sentenced on January 16.
"The fact that your bail is being continued does not imply that this
will be dealt with by a non-custodial sentence," Judge David Radford
told George, "I don't want any false expectations created."
George was convicted just hours before he was due to headline a DJ gig
at London's Ministry Of Sound. He now faces up to 15 years in jail,
plus an avalanche of bad press, which kicked off immediately after his
conviction with the BBC painting a harsh picture of 'a lonely,
paranoid man struggling to find his place in the world'.
Quite how the infamously outspoken star reacts to his predicament
remains unclear though speaking to Skrufff five years ago he admitted
being deeply affected by criticism in the press.
I don't court the media, I go out and do my own thing and I'm really
happy the tabloids don't usually write about me, I wish they'd all
just fuck off and leave me alone. They're always saying 'washed up and
sad and desperate', so don't write about me," said George.
"They're always trying to perpetuate this idea that I don't do
anything, that I'm a sad washed up old pop star, who just does a bit
of DJing at the weekend.
Fuck off, leave me alone," he added, "It's so fucking British to kick
people," he observed.

Australian Nerds' Raving Virginity - Skrufff.com
Reported by Tristan Ingram on December 10, 2008
A new study of University of Sydney students' sex lives has revealed
that male science students were the most likely to be virgins with
female art students the least likely.
Psychotherapist Stephen Carroll said the male students' work ethics
was one of the main factors keeping them unusually pure.
"And who are the people at unis (university) that go to the rave
parties and the bar? It's not the nerdy boy science students," he
added, "They're carrying on doing their experiments, going to the
library or doing their assignments." (Daily Telegraph).
Easily distracted net surfing nerd boys should meanwhile check out
Britain's Ministry Of Justice website urgently, after the agency
issued detailed guide lines of what constitutes newly criminalised
'extreme pornographic images'.
The UK agency outlines three criteria: 'that the image is
pornographic; 2. that the image is grossly offensive, disgusting, or
otherwise of an obscene character, and 3. that the image portrays in
an explicit and realistic way, one of the following extreme acts," the
site says.
"A: An act which threatens a person's life; B. An act which results in
or is likely to result in serious injury to a person's anus, breast or
genitals; C. An act involving sexual interference with a human corpse,
D. A person performing an act of intercourse or oral sex with an
animal (whether dead or alive), and a reasonable person looking at the
image would think that the people and animals portrayed were real."

Ram & Hospitality move to Matter!
Reported by Tristan Ingram on December 9, 2008
It’s been a rather apocalyptic time for London clubland over the course of 2008 – with the closure of Turnmills, Canvas, The Cross, The Key, and the impending closure of The End. And it could be argued that no one scene has been affected, or hit quite as hard, as drum bass. Beyond concluding the bountiful D residencies at The End (Marky Friends, Shogun Audio, Ram Records, Renegade Hardware, Swerve), countless D parties held at Turnmills and mammoth D raves at Bagley’s (aka Canvas, back in the day), D recently got knocked back even further when Heaven changed its programming and dropped Hospitality off its roster two months ago.

Reported by Ben Stroud on December 8, 2008
“Route 66 is no longer an official road but you can still follow its path. It’s basically been broken up into a series of roads and it will be a bit treacherous. We’ll be on the shoulder of a freeway with lorries passing us at 70 MPH (and Hummers and Cadillac’s) then at times we’ll be on small neighbourhood streets. We’ll even have to hop a fence or two to ride on abandoned stretches of the old Route 66.”
